Cost effective sol-gel oxide semiconductors for multifunctional thin films
The goal of the project would be the development of a new coating procedure of glassy ceramic oxide of transparent conducting oxide (TCO) layers on different types of substrates, such as polymers, metals or glasses at ambient or near ambient temperature with different functional properties such as: 1. Low-e material to control thermal radiation to a system or by a system. 2. Mechanically durable transparent electrode material in solar, electrochromic and liquid crystal cell systems. 3. Ion-storage-cum counter electrode in electrochromic devices (ECD) to reduce the number of components in ECD devices. 4. Corrosion resistant thermal shields in industrial and domestic applications to prevent overheating. 5. Nanostructured materials close to the size near to Bohr radius for excitonic transitions leading to non-linear optical (NLO) materials.
